Vonage SoftPhone is a fully functioning telephone interface that you can download and install on your PC or Mac and use without your Vonage phone adapter, even when you are traveling. With the SoftPhone you can make and receive calls, pick up voicemail and use most other Vonage features.

Set Up and Use

Add a SoftPhone

1. Sign in to Online Account.
2. Go to the Summary tab, select Order Add-Ons.
3. Click Add SoftPhone.
4. Follow instructions to select a State, Area Code, City and enter 911 details.
5. Review your order summary and click Place Order.
6. Click Done.

Get Phone Number and Password

1. Sign in to Online Account.
2. Click the Summary tab and under My Numbers, click your SoftPhone telephone number.
3. Go to Features & Settings and click SoftPhone Settings.
4. Jot down your Password.

Install the SoftPhone

Verify Installation Requirements

Install xSoftPhone.exe

1. Click Windows SoftPhone to download the setup wizard.
2. Click Run to launch the setup executable.
3. Click Next to start the Vonage SoftPhone installation.
4. Follow prompts until presented with the option to launch the SoftPhone.
5. Mark Launch X-PRO Vonage checkbox and then click Finish.
6. Click Next to start the Audio Tuning Wizard.
7. Continue to follow prompts to the end and then click Finish.
8. Enter your SoftPhoneTelephone Number (numeric only) and Password and then click Login. You are ready to make calls.

Install x_Pro-Vonage-Mac.dmg

1. Click Mac Softphone to Download the Mac Vonage SoftPhone software installer.
2. Read the License Agreement and click Agree, if displayed.
   Otherwise, if not displayed, locate the X_pro-Vonage-Mac.dmg file after downloading the software installer and double click on the file to accept the License Agreement.
   NOTE: You must agree to the License Agreement to install Vonage SoftPhone for Macintosh.
3. Drag the Vonage SoftPhone icon to the Applications folder. (If you do not have permission to install to the Applications folder, drag the icon to your Home folder instead.)
4. Go to the Applications folder (or your Home folder) and double click the Vonage SoftPhone icon to launch the application.
5. Click Next to start the Audio Tuning Wizard.
6. Continue to follow prompts to the end and then click Finish. The Vonage SoftPhone is displayed.
7. Enter your SoftPhone Telephone Number (numeric only) and Password and then click Login. You are ready to make calls.

Install X-Lite

This third party software supports later Windows and OS versions that are not compatible with the Vonage SoftPhone software. See Use of X-Lite Softphone Software for more details.

Download and install:

1. Go to www.counterpath.com/x-lite.html.
2. Download and install X-Lite software for your operating system type.

Set Up Softphone Account:

Open X-Lite and select Accounts Settings from the Softphone menu. Apply the following settings and click OK:

• Cost is $9.99 + taxes and fees, which includes 500 minutes to the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico.
• Calls to the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico that exceed the 500 included minutes are billed at 3.9 cents per minutes.
• All charges for calls that exceed the 500 minutes for local calls and any international charges are included in your monthly bill.
• A one-time $9.99 Activation Fee is applied when you sign up for a SoftPhone.

Rates

Calls within the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico are local calls. You can dial international phone numbers at our low cost international rates.

Important Notes

SoftPhone Telephone Number

You cannot change the telephone number of your SoftPhone and you cannot transfer this phone number to another phone line.

Your Vonage Features

All Vonage features are available for your SoftPhone with the exception of Call Waiting, Bandwidth Saver, and Call Hunt.

SoftPhone 911 Calls

All calls to 911 from your Softphone are routed to the Vonage National Emergency Call Center, where a representative will assist you.

X-Lite is a free third party softphone software that is compatible with later operating system versions.

• Third party application software maintenance is the sole responsibility of the supplier. Our Support Technicians can assist with username, password and domain name only.
• Not all software has been proven to work with our VoIP service. Vonage is not responsible for any software issues, updates, or conflicts with other software that will disrupt the Softphone's ability to work properly.
• Third Party Softphone Software may have features such as instant messaging, fax, and video conferencing features built into the phone but these features are not supported by Vonage.
• If used, unsupported features can cause undesirable effects on your phone service.
